"At first, only a faint glow appeared above the dark surface. Then a column of light descending from the sky lifted stones from the ground and began to illuminate the centre of the circular mark. The craft sent no signal and left no explanation, yet when the descent was complete, only one question remained: why did this encounter begin here?"

Veiled Descent

The Silent Horizon

The surface had remained motionless for a very long time.

The vast terrain, covered in sharp stones, carried the same dry texture all the way to the distant mountain ranges. The colour of the ground shifted between dark brown and ash-tinted copper, and when the wind passed across it, thin layers of dust moved over the surface in shallow waves. The dark peaks rising beyond the horizon merged with the night and left a harsh silhouette against the sky.

Above, the stars could be seen clearly. Fine clusters of light stretched like distant galaxies, while a large planet hung at the edge of the scene in dark stillness. Every detail was in place. Every direction rested within an undefined silence.

Then that order changed.

The first sign was a very slight distortion in the light above. It was not as sudden as a falling star. It was more like a surface slowly emerging from within the darkness. At first, its outline could not be distinguished. Then a circular form separated itself from the depths above and began to descend.

The craft was silent.

There was no flame around it, and no harsh vibration shook the surface. Even so, its presence altered the natural balance of the landscape at once. The ground waited. The stones waited. Even the sky was no longer merely a background.

The Descent of Light

As the craft moved lower, the warm light gathering beneath it became more defined.

At first, the glow resembled a narrow ring. Within seconds, it widened, and from its centre a dense column of light began to descend. The beam did not fall evenly to the ground. Countless particles moved within it. It was as if fine dust was flowing both upwards and downwards through the same light.

When the beam reached the surface, a faint circle appeared at the very centre of the ground. Then that circle sharpened. Thin layers of dust were pushed outwards, small stones were drawn inwards, and a ring-shaped mark emerged on the surface as though it had been prepared long before.

Soon afterwards, the surrounding rocks began to lift from the ground.

Some rose only a few centimetres. Others were drawn higher around the column of light. Fine grains of dust glimmered among the stones turning in the air. The rocky terrain below was no longer still. Without touching the ground directly, the craft had gathered the entire balance of the surface into its own centre.

In that moment, the silence of the landscape became even more pronounced.

The wind was present, yet its sound seemed withdrawn. Dust was rising, yet it did not scatter. Every stone, every broken fragment of rock and every glimmer had gathered around a single point of focus.

The craft still offered no explanation.

The Rising Stones

Over time, the rocks circling the beam of light began to move in a more distinct pattern.

At first the motion had seemed irregular, but from closer observation it carried a repeating rhythm. Larger stones turned slowly in the outer ring, while smaller fragments remained suspended in a closer orbit near the centre. The lower surfaces of some rocks had begun to glow in copper tones under the effect of the light. Surrounded by deep shadow, this warm radiance made the stones appear as though heat were rising from within them.

The centre of the circular mark on the ground was not empty either.

Where the beam struck the surface, the finer layer of dust had withdrawn, revealing beneath it a harder and more structured ring. This mark was different from a natural hollow. Its edges did not spread in a random way, but instead seemed to move in a controlled direction towards the centre. It was as though the craft were not only affecting the stones on the surface, but also awakening a hidden region buried below it.

The distant band of galaxy above stretched behind the descent like a bright line. The sight only made the scene more mysterious. It no longer seemed that the craft was merely descending to the ground. It gave the impression that it had passed through a far greater cosmic order before arriving at this exact point.

No one knew what it was searching for.

No one knew why it had chosen this surface.

No one knew why the light gathered so precisely at the centre of the circular mark.

But the encounter had already begun, and it could no longer be taken back.

At the Centre of the Circle

When the descent was complete, the craft did not touch the ground.

Its dark body remained suspended steadily above the column of light. The rings beneath it did not fade. Instead, they began to turn with a more ordered glow. At that very moment, the rocks rising from the surface reached their highest position. Larger pieces of stone remained suspended within the light, some turning slowly around themselves, others shifting around the centre as though moved by an invisible current.

At the centre of the ring-shaped mark below, a finer movement continued.

The dust layer rose, then withdrew, then gathered again. It gave the impression that an old symbol drawn upon the ground was becoming visible once more. That mark may have been there long before the descent, or perhaps the craft was revealing it for the first time. The only certain truth was that the encounter did not appear random.

The distant mountain ranges, the planets suspended above, and the dark rocks scattered across the surface had all become witnesses to the scene. Yet witnessing did not mean explaining. The craft left no message, opened no passage and revealed no visible presence. It simply remained there, forming an unexplainable connection with the surface below.

That is why the greatest tension was not hidden in the movement itself, but in the purpose behind it.

The craft may have been carrying out a form of retrieval.

It may have been activating a mark.

It may have been returning to a point left behind long ago.

But none of this was certain.

The Trace Left Behind

After a while, the intensity of the light began to weaken.

First, the smaller fragments suspended in the air slowly descended. Then the larger rocks returned to the ground one by one. Some fell close to where they had once rested, while others settled into new positions around the circular mark. As the dust slowly returned to the surface, the beam of light narrowed, and the warm ring beneath the craft became a thinner glow.

Even so, the craft did not leave immediately.

For a few final moments, it remained suspended above the ground. That pause was as striking as the descent itself. It was as though what would be left behind mattered just as much as the encounter. Then the body slowly rose. The light narrowed. The last luminous grains of dust in the air faded. The craft withdrew into the same darkness from which it had come.

The sky once again appeared filled with stars.

The mountains remained in place.

The surface held the same vast silence.

But no detail remained quite the same.

Because the ring-shaped mark still remained around the centre. The stones in their new positions remained there. The thin layer of dust left by the rising motion remained there. Most of all, the feeling that this descent had not been accidental remained there.

The encounter may have ended...

But its answer had not been left behind...

Continue the Journey

Although the craft that descended to the surface has withdrawn beyond the dark horizon, the ring-shaped mark opened by its column of light and the silent witness of the rising stones remain behind. Veiled Descent carries the trace of this unexplained encounter, showing only the signs left behind by the UFO that descended from the sky without ever revealing what it was searching for.
